How We Started
Life Unbound was created from a genuine passion for supporting people in a way that feels real, flexible, and meaningful. After working closely within the disability support space across the Illawarra and Shoalhaven, we saw that too often support could feel structured, clinical, and disconnected from everyday life. We saw a critical need for a service that could navigate the complexities of both the NDIS and the DCJ space with heart, culture, and professional rigor.
We wanted to create something different — a service built around people, not just programs. Life Unbound was born from the desire to remove the "ceiling" for NDIS participants and young people in the Out of Home Care (OOHC) system who were facing barriers that shouldn’t be there.
Life Unbound was designed to give individuals the opportunity to get out into the community, try new experiences, and live life in a way that feels natural and fulfilling. At its core, it’s about removing limitations and creating support that truly fits the person. Today, we stand as a dedicated partner for families and case managers, focused on making a generational difference through connection, movement, and an unwavering commitment to seeing our participants thrive.
The heart of what we do
At Life Unbound, everything we do is built around three core ideas — not just in what we say, but in how we support people every day.
Independence is a beautiful thing, and we are passionate about helping you claim it. "Live Capable" is about the pride that comes with mastering a new skill, whether you’re an NDIS participant learning to navigate the world or a young person in care preparing for the future. We celebrate every win with you, providing the patient, individualized support you need to feel strong and in control.
Living Capable
We believe that no one should ever feel alone. In our culture, we are all connected—to each other, to our ancestors, and to the beautiful Dharawal country we call home. For our DCJ kids and disability participants, we go beyond just "community access"; we build bridges of belonging. We are here to help you find your tribe, your culture, and your place in the world.
Living Connected
Living Unbound
Our greatest passion is watching a person realize they are not defined by their trauma or their disability. To live "unbound" is to wake up knowing that your future is wide open. Through active mentorship and high-energy sports and fitness, we help young people rewrite their stories from "I can’t" to "watch me".
This is what makes Life Unbound different — support that goes beyond care, and focuses on helping people truly live.
Fin Bursill
Our Director and Founder, Fin, holds a Bachelor of Health and Physical Education from the University of Wollongong, along with a Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability & Aged Care). As a proud Wodi Wodi man of the Dharawal nation, Fin’s work is a lifelong commitment to his community and a passion for seeing people from all walks of life thrive on their own terms.
With over six years of experience across the care industry, Fin’s journey has been defined by a deep, hands-on dedication to his participants. He has gained invaluable perspective working as a frontline support worker, navigating the complexities of the OOHC system, and serving as a disability coordinator. This dual expertise allows him to manage support with both the professional precision required by case managers and the personal heart required by families.
Fin is deeply committed to safe, person-centred care and holds specialised Maybo Learning certificates in trauma-informed practice and de-escalation. Whether he is utilising his background in competitive sports to lead a high-energy mentorship session or drawing on his surf lifesaving and remote first aid training to guide an outdoor adventure, he brings a steady, calming presence to every interaction.
He is passionate about creating opportunities for people to build independence and find their place in the community—values that sit at the core of Life Unbound. Fin is more than a director; he is a consistent mentor and a proud Wodi Wodi man who understands that true empowerment comes from being seen, heard, and supported. He is here to yarn, to listen, and to walk alongside you as you break through boundaries and begin living a life unbound.

Support That works with you
We keep things simple.
No complicated processes. No unnecessary barriers. Just clear, flexible support that works for you.
From the first conversation through to ongoing support, we focus on making everything easy to understand and tailored to your needs.
Because getting the right support shouldn’t feel overwhelming.
A Partnership Built on Trust
We know that the best support doesn’t happen in a vacuum—it happens when there is a real, trusting partnership between us, the participant, and their support network. Whether you are a parent, a self-managed participant, or a case manager within the DCJ system, we work hand-in-hand with you to ensure our mentorship aligns with your specific goals and long-term vision. We don’t just show up for a shift; we invest in the journey, providing a consistent and reliable presence that you can truly count on.
Tailored to Your Life
Life doesn't always fit into a 9-to-5 box, and neither should your support. We pride ourselves on being flexible and responsive, creating schedules that actually make sense for your lifestyle. From high-energy sports and fitness sessions that build physical resilience to quiet, focused skill-building at home, every hour is designed to be meaningful. We are here to provide support that feels natural and fulfilling, helping you get out into the community and try new experiences on your own terms.
Trauma-Informed & Expertly Managed
With deep experience in both Disability Coordination and Out of Home Care (OOHC), we understand the complex requirements of the NDIS and the specialized needs of young people in care. Our approach is always grounded in trauma-informed practice and specialized de-escalation training, ensuring that even in challenging moments, our participants feel safe, respected, and heard. We manage the "big picture" details so that you can focus on what matters most—living a life that is truly unbound.
